Playing Handbells

Normally the ensemble Swissbells performs with American handbells. The Performance is fascinating for both, ears and eyes. It presupposes high musical skills and rhythmic feeling as well as absolute commitment. Handbell ringing is Teamwork on highest stage. Nobody actually plays his or her music alone, on the contrary all players are responsible for the bells which are assigned to them. The performance is kind of a musical puzzle.

Most handbell choirs ring with gloves. Swissbells, however, normally rings with bare hands by exception of the four-in-hand technique, in order to be able to damp the bells by means of a finger without leaving finger prints.
